Who We Are

A warm welcome to Whitefield Methodist Church.

We are a community of people of all ages and backgrounds, seeking to follow Jesus, grow in faith and share God’s love with our neighbours.

We’re not a perfect church - we’re a group of ordinary people on a journey together, discovering what it means to live as followers of Jesus. Some of us have been part of church for many years; others are just beginning to explore faith. Wherever you are on your journey, you are welcome here.

Our Story

Whitefield Methodist Church has been part of the local community since 1876. Throughout that time, our calling has remained the same: to love God, love our neighbours and make a difference in the place where God has planted us.

Today, our church life reaches far beyond Sunday worship. Through activities such as Oasis Soft Play, ‘See & Know’, Oasis Afternoon Teas, community events, prayer and worship, we seek to create places where people can find friendship, support, belonging and hope.

Our Mission Statement

Whitefield Methodist Church is a journeying Christian community, open to all, offering hospitality on the way, promoting community well-being, exploring spirituality and sharing the love of Jesus with all.

We Are An Inclusive Church

John Wesley famously said, “The world is my parish” and reminds us that God’s love is not just for those inside church buildings, but for everyone. We seek to be a church that is open, welcoming and connected to the community around us. As our mission statement says, we are ‘open to all’, irrespective of faith, colour, creed or gender and are licensed to offer both opposite-sex and same-sex marriage ceremonies.
